Codi Yusuf — South African All-Rounder Making His Mark in SA20

Role: All-rounder (right-hand bat, right-arm medium)  |  From: South Africa  |  Teams: Pretoria Capitals (SA20), Gauteng (domestic)

Codi Ethan Yusuf, born April 10, 1998, is one of South African domestic cricket's most complete all-rounders. A right-hand bat and right-arm medium bowler who has worked his way through the provincial structure and into the SA20, Codi represents exactly the kind of player the format was designed to reward — consistent, competitive, and capable of turning a match in either discipline.

From the Provinces to SA20

Codi made his T20 debut for Mpumalanga in the Africa T20 Cup on September 14, 2018, and his List A debut followed the next year on October 6, 2019 for Gauteng in the CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge. He wasted no time making an impression: in that 2019–20 season he was the joint-leading wicket-taker in the CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge, picking up 16 dismissals in 9 matches — a return that signalled he was ready for bigger stages.

His first-class debut came on October 17, 2019 for Gauteng in the CSA 3-Day Provincial Cup, completing a full debut season across all three formats.

Career Statistics

Across 45 career matches, Codi has scored 1,215 runs at a batting average of 35.79 — including 1 century and 7 fifties — while taking 50 wickets at a bowling average of 31.26 with best figures of 4/40. The balance between bat and ball is striking and reflects a player who is genuinely dangerous in both roles rather than being an auxiliary contributor in one.

SA20 with Pretoria Capitals

Codi was acquired by the Pretoria Capitals for R225,000 at the 2025 SA20 Player Auction, having previously represented the Paarl Royals. The Capitals, coached by Sourav Ganguly and captained by Keshav Maharaj, brought Codi in as a genuine match-impact option — not a utility pick.

He justified that faith immediately in the SA20 2025–26 season, taking 2 wickets for 29 runs against the Joburg Super Kings in his franchise's opening fixture — including the prized scalp of Faf du Plessis. His contribution extended to the lower order as well, batting with Tymal Mills in a late-order partnership that showed his composure under pressure.

A Bolt Cricket Athlete

Codi Yusuf represents the international dimension of the Bolt Cricket Athlete Program. His career trajectory — from provincial cricket to franchise T20 at one of the sport's most competitive short-form leagues — is a blueprint for what relentless all-round development can deliver. Bolt Cricket is proud to support him as he continues to build his SA20 profile.
