Cricket Bat Size Guide

Cricket bat size should be chosen by player height first. Age can help as a rough guide, but two players of the same age can need different bat sizes depending on height, strength, and comfort.
The chart below uses common industry sizing ranges used across cricket bat brands. Always choose the size that allows the player to lift, swing, and control the bat comfortably.

How to choose the right size
- Pick by height first. Age is only a rough reference.
- Do not oversize junior players. A bat that is too big can slow down hands, reduce control, and make technique harder to learn.
- Check pickup, not only listed weight. Two bats with the same weight can feel different depending on balance and profile.
- Short Handle is the standard adult size. Most adult club and league players use SH.
- Long Handle is for taller adult players. It helps players who feel cramped with a standard handle.
Does this chart apply to tape-ball and tennis-ball bats?
Yes, the height ranges are still a helpful starting point. Tape-ball and tennis-ball bats are usually lighter than leather-ball bats, but the player still needs a bat length that fits their height and stance.
